Making Sense of Your Gene, Protein or Metabolite List: Secondary Analysis In-Person

This course will discuss secondary analysis of high-throughput sequencing data with a focus on RNA-seq. Secondary analysis is done downstream of identification of differentially expressed genes through primary data analysis, and includes clustering and/or principle components analysis to identify patterns in data as well as gene ontology and pathway analysis to identify changes to biological process or signaling pathways indicated by your data. Examples of useful analyses will be drawn from recent scientific papers, with hands-on introduction to various tools that can be used for doing this type of data analysis. NOTE: This is a beginner to intermediate level workshop. We will not be learning command-line programming during this session, although workflows that can be accomplished using R or similar programming environments will be mentioned.
